WIP Project 4 Completed

This is my 5th finish for this challenge. No way I am going to do the 15 I started, thanks to the chemo my hands are not working to good, but I will keep plodding on.

Rules for Life

I bought this chart yesterday from Kincavel Krosses over on Folksy cant wait to start this, but as I got no stitching done yesterday and have the hospital today, I am not sure when I will get the opportunity because I need to finish the project I started at the weekend.

July Weekend Stitch a long (SAL) Update No.2

Well I did not manage to get this little project finished this weekend. That was due to the fact it was my darling husbands birthday today and for once we had the opportunity to go out, just the two of us. So we headed off to Edinburgh for a wander around and luckily did not get too wet. Unfortunately the weakness in my legs caused by the chemo, meant we could not go far. We had a great time and finished it off with a lovely meal. So hopefully tomorrow I will get back to this.

Saturday 9 July 2011

July Weekend Stitch a long (SAL) Update

This is my progress as of 6.30 this evening. I am going to keep working on it for the rest of the night, who knows I might get this finished this weekend.

Friday 8 July 2011

July Weekend Stitch a long (SAL)

I started this as part of the Crazy Cross stitch January Challenge, it is one of my 15 projects. Its a little Weekender kit called City Slicker. So I decided as it was only a weekend SAL I would see if I could get this one finished, I am still having problems with my fingers...so here hoping :O))

Completed Faith

Finally managed to finish this one off, I hoped to find the frame I want over the weekend.

Tuesday 5 July 2011

WIP Faith so far

Had hoped to finish this yesterday, but unfortunately my hands just would not let me. Oh well maybe today.

Saturday 2 July 2011

A little bird told me.....

Thanks to my numb hands these are taking longer than they should to stitch, but I am really enjoying doing them.

Thursday 30 June 2011

A little Tweet (LOL)

I am thoroughly enjoying stitching these little birds. It might take me longer due to the lack of feeling in my hands, but still enjoyable.

Tuesday 28 June 2011

Little Birds

I saw these lovely little birds in Cross Stitch Crazy a few months ago. I have decided to make some as lavendar sachets, they will go well for my Girls Brigade companies Christmas Fundraiser.

WIP - Faith

This is my progress so far on Faith by My Big Toe Designs. I am loving stitching this and it seems quite appropriate at the moment. My cancer journey requires quite a lot of Faith, faith not just in God, but in my family and the doctors and nurses who are looking after me.

Faith

I started the Crazy Cross stitch January challenge back at the start of January, choosing 15 patterns that I wanted to complete before the year was out. Funny how life and time can make you change your mind on what you want to do. Thanks to the chemo I am undergoing I am not always able to stitch, so I decided I was going to be very selective when I did. I saw this design by My Big Toe and loved it, so decided that I had to stitch it. I'm not using the same colours and will upload a pic soon, but I am enjoying it and considering how my life is going at the moment, enjoying things is more important than anything.

No Stitching getting done here

Well my chemo started with a vengance last week, OMG I forgot how awful it truely is. I did stupidly think I might manage some stitching to keep my mind occupied. Not a hope, my body is to sore, and the random spasms dont help either. Who knows maybe next week.

Sunday 1 May 2011

WIP Project 9

I have finished stitching Project 9, I will need to decide what I am going to use as a backing and them I can complete it as a little wall hanging. Like this one, its kind of cute.

Saturday 30 April 2011

Best laid plans

Well here I am, 28 days since my last post. I had hoped to finish the Christmas wall hanging, hoping life would not get in the way. But it did, in one of the worse ways possible for me. Unfortunately my stitching took a back seat to my having to get my head round the fact that I was once again diagnosed with cancer. I now have secondary breast cancer in my lymphnodes. The surgeon and oncologist have both told me they cannot cure it, they are hopeful however that they can put it into remission, how long for they do not know.

Well today I am back sewing, my chemo starts on the 11th May and I want to get this little wall hanging done and maybe do a bit of another challenge before it begins. I know from past experience I may not be able to stitch for most of the time, but I am hopeful I will be able to do some.

Saturday 2 April 2011

WIP Project 9

I know its a bit early for Christmas, but I just had to do more of this little wall hanging. Hope to finish this in the next day or two, if other things dont get in the way

Sunday 27 March 2011

WIP - Project 2

I have finally completed this lovely little project, making two finishes for my CJC. I have also been doing a little bit of another couple of projects and as soon as the camera is charged I will start to upload some pictures.

Project 2 Completed

But as if I didnt have enough to do, when I challenged myself to complete 15 projects this year. I have also agreed to stitch a couple of squares for a quilt that will go to a childrens home. So hopefully I will be able to show you them soon too.

Memories of Glasgow

I grew up in Glasgow during the 60/70's when I was 15, my family moved to the Lothians. My childhood memories are all about a rough area of Govan, were nobody had very much. Sounds awful, but it was'nt, I look back on those years with fondness, everybody looked out for each other and every door was open to you if you need it. Why am I getting all dewy eyed about my youth you might ask, well one of my other passions is reading or listening to audio books and this week I started and finished a book telling of a young boys memories of growing up in Glasgow after the war. The book is called "Last Song of the Night Tram" OMG it was an amazing read, he grew up in a different decade from me, but if I am honest not much had changed. I think what I liked the most was that these were the times my parents grew up in, some of the things he spoke about I remembered my mother talking about. I have had books move me, but the final chapters of this book had me sobbing, I was crying for his loss, but I think I also cried for time I could not get back with parents that are no longer here and also out of sympathy for a desease shared with another young woman. If you grew up in the tenements of Glasgow you should this, if you didnt and think you could follow the Glasgow dialect used through out the book, then give it a go...I know I cant wait to read some more from this author.

WIP Project 2

Never got as much of this done during the week as I would have liked, however I have the house to myself this afternoon so hopefully I will get a good bit done.

Sunday 6 March 2011

WIP - Project 2

Dont you just hate it when real life gets in the way. Thats what it has been like for me the past few weeks, so I have not managed to get much work done on this project. I am determined to be able to post a pic at the end of the week that has lots more done...so watch this space.

Monday 21 February 2011

Hugs and Kisses

I got these patterns today, I really want to do these. Think I may need to add them in with my 15 challenge, wonder if I could do them to.

Saturday 19 February 2011

Project 15 - Completed

I finally managed to get one of the projects finished, I love this little stitching devil. However if I am to finish all 15 by the end of the year, I really need to find more stitching time...wonder if hubby will let me give up work.. duh I doubt it. Oh well I will just need to find a better work life balance.

Sunday 13 February 2011

WIP - Project 12

I've been off work this last week on annual leave, we are getting a new bathroom installed. I thought all I would need to do was supply cups of tea now and again and get on with my sewing. Not a chance, day one went ok till we realised we had lost the water pressure in the heating, day two no hot water, until around dinner time I noticed water coming through my kitchen ceiling...told plumber who said he would need to make a hole to let the water escape....pierced hole in ceiling and the whole bloody thing came down...we had found the hot water... and the rest of the week did not get much better.. so as you can imagine not a lot of stitching. Here is an update on Project 12 I am loving this one, cant wait to see it progress.

Monday 7 February 2011

WIP - Project 2 and 12

An update on a couple of my 15 projects. Hope to get a good bit done this week while I am off on holiday from work.

Project 12 - A winters Night

Project 2 - Smile

Serial Stitcher SAL Update

I chose three projects to work on during this SAL, so far I have only stitched a bit of one of them, I would love to have managed more, but unfortunately the pain in my joints is making it difficult, so I suppose some is better than none. I am hoping to do a bit more of this tomorrow, before moving on to a different project.

Tuesday 25 January 2011

Cross Stitch Serial Starter SAL January

I am not really a serial starter, I am one of those stitchers who has to finish a project once it is started. However as part of the CCSC 2011 I now have 15 projects on the go. So from the 26th Jan to 31st January I am picking three of these and thats all I will work on as part of the SAL. Below is each one as it looks now and hopefully on the 31st when I post pics they will look if not a lot, then at least a little different.

Monday 24 January 2011

WIP - Project 15

This is certainly starting to take shape now, I had hoped to finish this over the next couple of days, however real life has again interupted my sewing and I have to do some real work... but at least once my work is finished I will be able to stitch without feeling guilty.... well for a little while anyway.

Sunday 23 January 2011

WIP - She's a cute little devil

Managed to stitch a bit more of this cute little devil last night, love her.

Saturday 22 January 2011

Tuesday 18 January 2011

WIP - Project 15

Managed to get some stitching done today. I am loving stitching this one, its going to be one cute little devil.

Monday 17 January 2011

Update

Ok, I managed to start my 15 projects by January 15th. It was a bit of a rush at the end but I did get them all started. ... all I need to do now is make sure I can finish them.
This is my progress on Project 15, I actually managed some stitching today.

Sunday 16 January 2011

CCSC 2011 15 Day challenge

Sorry I have not been on all week but life has been hectic, I did however manage to start my 15 projects by the 15th January, albeit I started 3 yesterday, 4 if you count the one I started and didnt like. I will pop back later today and post an update of one.

Hopefully work will not be as manic and I will be able to keep up to date with posts about my progress x

Sunday 9 January 2011

CCSC 2011 Project 8

This is one of the smaller projects I chose. This is one is I wanted for on the wall of my craft room. I am now only one project behind so it will either be tomorrow or Tuesday that I do a double to catch up, it really just depends on how the day pans out.

WIP Project 7

I wanted to keep stitching this one, but had to put it down as I am already behind. I thought this weekend I would achieve amazing things, but alas the family thought different, so did not get as much stitching done as I would have liked to.

Saturday 8 January 2011

CCSC 2011 Project 7

This is my choice for Project 7, not sure how much I will get done tonight as I am off out for a little while with my friend.

WIP Project 6

Not much done but at least it is started. Spent more time than I thought sorting and winding threads.

CCSC 2011 Project 6

This pattern arrived in the post this morning, so decided this would be my project 6. I am slowly getting back on track with the challenge. Hopefully work wont interfere for the next few days.

WIP Project 5 Day 1

Not a lot stitched but at least I am catching up with the ones I am behind on.

It had to happen

Well I am officially behind with the challenge, dont you just hate when life gets in the way of your hobbies  oh well, I have spent the night stitching and thanks to a cancelled shift tomorrow I will now have the whole weekend to get back on track. I will take a pic of my progress with project 5 in the morning when the light is better and then I can make a start on Project 6.

Wednesday 5 January 2011

CCSC 2011 Project 5

This is the Project I should have started today, but I have been on shift all day with a sleepover tonight and I dont get home till 5pm tomorrow night. So absolutely no time to put needle to aida. I have sorted out the threads but that is all. Oh well it was inevitable that I would fall behind, but I will catch up and have 15 WIP's by 15th January.

WIP Project 4 Day 1

Not a lot stitched due to work commitments but at least its started.

Tuesday 4 January 2011

CCSC 2011 - Project 4

This is my next project in the Crazy Cross Stitch Challenge, its called City Slicker. Lucky for me its only a little project because it 11.40pm here and that is me just getting a chance to put needle to fabric. How inconvenient when work interferes with our hobbies. But I will be back in the morning with a pic of my progress to date.

Monday 3 January 2011

WIP Project 3 Day 1

Well isnt it amazing what you can achieve when you cant sleep, managed to get this done before heading off to work this morning, which is just as well as I am on a sleepover with no time to stitch. At least I am staying on track. Managed to sort the threads for tomorrows project, but wont make a start on that until I get home tomorrow afternoon.

CCSC 2011 - Project 3

This is my 3rd project in the challenge, its called Evensong. I managed to get some of this done this morning and hopefully will get a bit more done later tonight...I say hopefully as I am working and on sleepover. Oh well we will see.

WIP Project 2 Day 1

Not a lot done but its a start.

Sunday 2 January 2011

CCSC 2011 - Project 2

I am starting this today, not holding out much hope for doing much as I am going out to dinner later with my sister, its a tough old life really...looking forward to my meal out as the diet starts tomorrow, time to get the weight off I put on because of the steriods....the steriods might have caused it, but I am now the reason it is still on, so its time for a change ;o)

WIP Project 1 Day 1

Not a lot stitched but I was working all day LOL. I actually was surprised to get this much done, because of my joints I have to keep stopping, so quite pleased actually :O)

Saturday 1 January 2011

Crazy Cross Stitch Challenge - Day 1

I chose Breast Cancer Annie as my first project in the Crazy cross stitch challenge. I chose her first as a reminder that I am heading into my 2nd year cancer free. As I have been left with so many problems due to my chemotherapy, I sometimes need the reminder that I am a "Survivor" and not a "Victim". I bought this pattern on line at http://www.patternsonline.com/ love their site.

Will post a pic tomorrow of how much I got stitched.
